Blog of the day launch

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by lianebanks on 02-09-2010

We kick start our blog of the day with a blog that was written a few weeks ago and that I happened to stumble across. I really enjoyed this blog and hope they continue to write blogs more regularly.

Below is a short snippet of the blog:

“I think the title of this post should actually be “Why Cell C’s marketing team should consider a career in sales”. Now, I’d imagine Trevor Noah (tw) to be a pretty smart guy, but to be sold into becoming the face of a widely considered struggling brand, they must have sold him the world. Not just in payment, but in the overall strategy going forward. And well done to them. ”

Go have a read of our first “blog of the day” award… well deserved guys!

Shake things up

We are launching a new, exciting program here at Gold Creative where we honour local blogs for their daily contribution to our lives. We will be selecting a “Blog of the Day” every day and posting it up on The House Of Marketing and each month will select a “Blog of the Month”. This initiative allows you, our reader to stop scouring the Internet for the best, most entertaining blogs, and instead can just visit our blog everyday for what we consider worthy of your time. We will be looking for the blogs that make us truly South African, the ideas that identify the marketing genius among us and the blogs that keep us surprised with the wit and intelligence we know exist out there.

So keep your eyes on this page as it will launch 1st September, strike or no strike - we will go on!!! Yes people that means tomorrow!

We will be sending the chosen blogger our stamp of approval and hopefully over time this symbol will be loved, recognised and cherished by the receiver.

Bring Back Handcrafted Talent

I’ve been around in life, visited a lot of places and seen this and that - museums, art galleries, heritage sites, and I think this ranks high on the creativity scale.

untitled Pencils

The artist of these sculptures is articulate. Time, passion and talent that went to each piece is priceless, and is explicitly shared in each and every one of them.

Let your youthful side live on and give us more creative, innovative and enigmatic masterpieces like these - if you have time and patience.

For art like this we need to recognise our artists. Or do they have to be creative and use these elements to bring art to life? If talent like this is exercised, we’ll see lot more people expressing themselves. We do see it everyday through media but we miss that element of original handcrafted art to restore its beauty.

This piece really stole my heart and reminded me the beauty of expression, and want to say thank you for reviving my soul.

INTIMIDATING?!

Ever been caught in the world of creativity, their people seem crazy sometimes (sorry team!). They never run out of ideas. I wonder if BMW keeps the same group of creative people because they don't stop pushing - remember the ad “it beats the bends”, also the “3 circles”. And recently I came across these striking - stylish, sleek and beautiful beasts, HEAD ON! It brought chills to my skin.
Though I hate confessions, this ad left me fuzzy because my favourite car brand happens to be in the picture. However, I noted competitive advertising; which is dangerous because the advert was pulled. Mind if I call this lazy advertising?!.

These beasts are intimidating. But who intimidates who?

BMW

Because of their nature, jaguars are solitary and you might even say shy. Truth is they mark their territory with scent. Might not take you head on, but creeps closer to their prey before pouncing. So now really. WHO INTIMIDATES WHO?

The fierceness between these two captures your imagination.

Just to soften up I opened this one, VERY CUTE!!!

IT IS HERE!

It is truly amazing what a small request does for the spirit of South Africa. Just moments ago the entire street erupted in whistles, hooters, shouts and the inevitable Vuvuzelas. The radio requested that everyone goes outside at 12.00 today (9 June 2010) and show their spirit and support of the World Cup. The noise and excitement filtered into our office and we were compelled to join in. Everyone, even our Director grabbed a Vuvuzela and ran to the corner and blew on it until our lips got bruised.

It was a remarkable show, people running down the street in crowds, all flying our countries flag high and proud. It was meant to last only 5 minutes but I watched as spontaneous street parties erupted around me. I think this party will go on for a lot longer than 5 minutes.

I admit to being indifferent about the World Cup leading up to it, however I can’t help but having been dragged into the spirit of it, whether I wanted to or not!

FEEL IT - IT IS HERE!!!
